CERT completes disaster drill

The latest class of the Barrow County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) ended its training with a disaster drill October 10. CERT members were called upon to respond to a mock disaster scene which simulated tornado damage. DOT says opinions split on Hwy. 29

Opinion is generally divided in half in the county over whether Hwy. 29 traffic warrants a bypass around Danielsville, according to the State Department of Transportation. Hull man charged with battery, kidnapping

A Hull man was arrested recently on family violence charges. Richard Earl Helms, 44, of 9050 Hwy. 106 South, was charged with battery FVA, battery, criminal damage to property in the second degree and kidnapping.
