Big New Year’s celebration planned for Winder

The Barrow County Historical Society will be hosting a New Year’s Eve “Jug Drop” at the Barrow County Museum. Modeled after the New York apple drop and the Atlanta peach drop, the “Jug Drop” pays homage to Winder’s Jug Tavern roots. A Winder man is facing multiple charges after assaulting his girlfriend’s teenage daughter. An Auburn Police officer found drugs and other items after stopping a car when he noticed the driver and front seat passenger were not wearing seatbelts. Two more cases of entering auto were reported in Winder last week. In past weeks, Winder Police have responded to an “overwhelming” number of car break-ins within the city limits according to Det. An Auburn woman contacted police to report that her valuables had been stolen from her son’s residence.
