The Barrow County fire investigation team is attempting to determine the cause of a Dec. 8 house fire that caused extensive damage to a Statham home. Elections supervisor leaving for Gwinnett job

Barrow County’s elections supervisor has resigned to become the assistant elections supervisor in Gwinnett County. Kristi Royston submitted her resignation Tuesday. A good Samaritan was arrested after helping an elderly lady who flagged him down on Patrick Mill Road. The man, Santigo Jamal Taylor, 34, of 1070 Evergreen Oak Way in Dacula, drove the woman to the Waffle House on Auburn Park Drive and bought her breakfast after she asked him for something to eat. Suspect sought in Bethlehem robbery

Authorities are searching for a man who escaped with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency after robbing the Dollar General Store in Bethlehem. The suspect entered the store at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 and forced the clerk to hand over the cash. The suspect then fled on foot.
