Two people were arrested in a sting operation on Thursday, Jan. 28, by Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputies during the course of an investigation. WPD reports fewer thefts, assaults

The Winder Police Department responded to fewer thefts, aggravated assaults and robberies in 2009. In some categories, the decrease was substantial. The number of aggravated assaults fell by 55 percent in 2009 – from 65 to 29. Robberies dropped by 30 percent and thefts fell by almost 14 percent. Also, for the third year in a row, there were ... Elderly man dies in Carlton fire

An elderly Carlton man was found dead early Monday after firefighters extinguished a blaze at his home. Olis Winn, 88, was discovered deceased at his house off Hwy. 72 Monday morning.
