A Winder man was struck repeatedly after refusing to go to the store and buy cigarettes for his girlfriend. Barrow foreclosures climb

Foreclosures in Barrow County continue to run high as some 243 are scheduled for the April sale date. That is the third highest number for any month for 2009 and 2010. The record monthly high was 257 in January 2010. For 2010 through April, 873 foreclosure actions have been taken in Barrow County. The county recorded 2,172 foreclosures in 2009. ... [Full Story »]

A Winder teen is dead after a fall from a Florida hotel balcony. According to police, Brandon Ward Kohler, 19, fell from the fifth floor of the Holiday Terrace Motel on Wednesday night just before 8:30 p.m. The Winder Barrow High School graduate was pronounced dead at the scene. A Winder man is facing multiple charges after a March 12 incident at a Ledbetter Road residence. Deputies were called to the home after Byron Joe Ledbetter, 37, injected himself with an unidentified drug.
