Great American cleanup set for April 23-24

The City of Auburn will be collecting batteries, motor oil, scrap metal, electronics and other junk during the Great American cleanup. Containers will be set up next to City Hall to collect discarded materials. The city will also collect tires for a disposal fee of $2 to $5 per tire depending on size. February was a very busy month for Barrow County Emergency Services personnel. For the month, communications officers dispatched 5,207 calls within an average of one minute and eight seconds. Statham Police investigate fraud

At least eight people have been identified as victims of fraud in incidents believed to be related to a Feb. 20 theft of mail at the Statham Post Office.
