The Jackson County soccer teams started off their week on a wet note. On Thursday, both boys and girls matches at Oglethorpe County were cancelled. The matches will not be rescheduled. Last week’s wet weather caused scheduling headaches for several teams and schools. Jefferson was no exception, as Jefferson’s five-way meet, with GAC, Riverside, Hart County and Flowery Branch had to be postponed. The meet was rescheduled for Tuesday. Following a week of delays and cancellations, Banks County’s diamond Leopards were back on the field Monday at East Jackson. The Leopards moved to a 5-2 record with an 8-6 win over the Eagles. Things may be turning around for the Commerce Tigers, as the team celebrates its first baseball win of the 2010 season over Prince Avenue. The Tigers run-ruled the Wolverines 13-2 on Saturday to pick up the season’s first win as well as a region victory. Rain washed out matches last week for the Jackson County tennis teams. Both the boys and girls teams were scheduled to host Archer last Thursday. Both of those were postponed. The Jackson County track teams are looking to rebound from losses last week to Athens Christian. The Panthers placed second in last Tuesday’s tri-meet at JCCHS to Athens Christian, scoring 49 points to the Eagles’ 70. It was a split decision Monday for the Jefferson Middle School golf teams, as the boys came away with wins over Commerce and Madison County.
