A Winder-Barrow High School student called police after a confrontation with a male staff member. The student said he was walking near the ticket booth entrance at the stadium when the staff member placed his hand on the student’s chest. Unemployment remains high in Barrow

Unemployment in Barrow County shows no sign of letting up. The unemployment rate in Barrow was up to 11.2 percent in February, a jump from 11 percent in January. The rate is up one percent from February 2009.

Firefighters were kept busy over the weekend as they responded to numerous grass and brush fires. A Winder woman was arrested after repeatedly striking her husband and ripping off his clothes. A former Barrow County School system employee has been charged with solicitation of sodomy. A Winder woman has been arrested in connection with a March 10 accident which injured a Winder Barrow High School student as he crossed the road to board his bus.
