Tonight's joint meeting of the Barrow County Board of Education and the Barrow County Board of Commissioners has been canceled. Winder man caught with explosive device

A Winder man is being held in the Gwinnett County jail after being charged with possession of an explosive device. Michael Brewer, 42, of Winder, was one of three passengers in a car driven by Matthew Henry Rothove, 44, of Flowery Branch. Tennis drills and lessons will be offered Saturday at Riverwalk YMCA, located off Tom Miller Road near Bethlehem. Former Winder-Barrow High School tennis standout Drake Bernstein will help conduct the event. Berstein currently competes for the University of Georgia. Drunk woman arrested after breaking window

Police were called to a Graham Street home after a caller reported seeing a woman attempting to break a window on the rear of the residence. When police arrived, they discovered Darenda Gay Johnson, 44, of 196 Graham Street in Winder, sitting on a pile of glass. Athens Regional Medical Center will host two American Red Cross blood drives on Thursday, April 29, from 7:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., and Thursday, May 6, from noon to 6 p.m. The blood drives will take place on the third floor of the Medical Services Building, behind the main hospital on King Avenue. Arsonist sets fire to vacant home

A Tuesday morning fire in the 100 Block of Morgans Ridge Road is currently under investigation as an act of arson. Firefighters were dispatched to the vacant home at approximately 1 a.m. on April 27.
