GSP investigating fatal wreck

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident which occurred Sunday morning on Highway 316 at its intersection with Hwy. 53. The male driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident was killed. No one else was seriously injured. The two vehicle accident resulted in the temporary closure of all lanes of Hwy. 316.

County business damaged in fire

The H.W. Wilson Company in the Dry Pond community of Jackson County was heavily damaged in a fire Saturday night. No one was injured in the fire at the chemical plant and further details have not been released yet.

Maysville City Council member Rebecca McNeely submitted a resignation letter to the city Monday afternoon. The act follows months of controversy surrounding her whereabouts at meetings and the possible misuse of city funds. An Auburn woman is facing multiple counts of stalking after repeatedly videotaping her Hilltop Circle neighbor. Barbara Jean Waldroup, 59, of 82 Hilltop Circle, was arrested May 17 after her neighbor summoned authorities after seeing Waldroup videotaping her activities. Free movies begin June 11

This summer, the City of Auburn will be screening free movies once a month in downtown Auburn. The first movie will be shown on June 11 at sunset. The movie title has not yet been announced. Man arrested for being a peeping tom at store

A Braselton man was arrested by police for stalking and peeping up a woman’s skirt with a mirror he placed in a grocery store basket. Clinton Richard Rhodes, 36, was charged with stalking, peeping tom and eavesdropping in the May 9 incident at the Publix on Ga. Hwy. 211. He was booked in the Barrow County Jail on May 18.
