Local group awarded $1,000 grant

The Winder-Barrow Coalition for Adult and Continuing Education (WBCACE) has been awarded a $1,000 grant. The Athens Area Community Foundation gave the group the grant, along with a number of Athens area organizations for grants totaling $25,000. A wanted man was arrested after contacting police regarding a domestic dispute with his wife. Patrick Donahue Barbour, 39, of 268 Apalachee Church Road, said he and his wife agreed to spend the night apart after a verbal argument earlier that evening. A Clearwater Drive residence sustained over $75,000 in damages after a vehicle crashed into the front of the house. Drunk man arrested after causing accident

A Winder man was arrested for DUI after crashing into another vehicle and injuring a seven-year-old child. Andrew Felts, 28, of 182 Bowman Terrace, was charged with DUI, reckless driving and failure to obey a traffic control device in connection with the April 22 accident.
