Winder Fire Department receives grant

The City of Winder Fire Department was recently awarded a $47,310 grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The department was notified of the award by United States Sen. Winder Police have arrested the suspect from an April 27 robbery at the Best Western on West Athens Street. Police located Phillip Wells, 27, in a hotel in Athens. Arrest made in vehicular homicide

A Statham woman has been arrested in connection with a June 2009 vehicular homicide which resulted in the death of a Winder man. Amanda Fay Shepherd, 43, of 2016 Kirkland Circle in Statham, was charged with homicide by vehicle and failure to yield right of way.
