A Winder woman called police after receiving several threatening messages regarding her upcoming testimony in a court case against her brother-in-law. Hoschton man sentenced in ponzi scheme

A Hoschton man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on charges of bank fraud and conspiracy involving mortgage fraud, a real estate investment “Ponzi” scheme with over a hundred victims, a check-kiting scheme and bankruptcy fraud. An Auburn man was arrested on charges of felony obstruction after biting one Auburn police officer on the arm and punching another in the eye. Three Barrow County elementary schools improved their fifth-grade writing test results this year, but some other local schools saw a significant drop. Winder Police were recently dispatched to a Second Street apartment in response to a report of a male chasing people with a knife and screwdriver.
