Banks County’s boys’ track team finished its region meet Tuesday in Jefferson. Due to the inclement weather over the weekend, the first day of the competition was held on Friday. Jackson County had a higher percentage of people respond to the Census than the state and national average. In Jackson County, 74 percent of the residents filled out their Census form. Man flees after running up cab bill

A Winder man was arrested after attempting to stiff a cab driver for $250. Mitchell Drew Morris, 23, of 104 West May Street in Winder, reportedly called a cab to take him from Dekalb County to a home on Hwy. 82 in Winder. Winder Fire Department receives grant

The City of Winder Fire Department was recently awarded a $47,310 grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The department was notified of the award by United States Sen.
