Dear Editor, According to the chart in your newspaper (June 6 Edition) about the new water rates, the 2,000 to 7,000 gallons of water used in a month (the category under which my family falls) will go up from $5.09 per thousand gallons to $7.96 per thousand gallons after the base rate of $24.16. An Auburn man is facing several charges after a violent dispute with his father. Zachary Allen Warziniack, 17, of 196 County Line Road in Auburn, reportedly became upset after his father struck the family dog on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. Statham officials approve budget with plans to amend

The Statham City Council approved its Fiscal Year 2010-2011 budget with plans to amend it at the city’s next meeting. The previous budget had included plans for a five percent increase for two police officers. Goats captured after parking lot romp

Winder Police were dispatched to La Luna Mexican restaurant after receiving reports of goats running loose through the parking lot. By the time police arrived, employees of the restaurant had managed to capture two of the animals. Animal control was called to remove the escaped goats. It is not known who owns the goats.
