Hoschton has lifted a water boil advisory for a subdivision and after a lightning strike led to a broken pipe. The advisory was lifted around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 — a day after residents in the Deer Creek Farms subdivision were told to boil the water for drinking, bathing, cooking, making ice and brushing teeth. The unemployment rate in Barrow County eased somewhat in April, down to 10.2 percent from 10.5 percent in March. But the county continues to have one of the highest rates in Northeast Georgia. A Winder man was arrested after using a claw hammer to end a dispute with a friend. According to the victim, he and Mearlon Knight, 67, of 132 Anita Drive, began arguing at Knight’s house.
