Braselton announces town office closures

The Braselton town government offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 30, at noon, for end of fiscal year processing. Town employees will still be available by phone or email during regular office hours. Also, all Braselton town offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, for the Independence Day holiday.

Man pulls gun after traffic accident

A Statham man was arrested after pointing a gun at the truck driver who struck the rear of his vehicle. Christopher Miller, 30, of 462 Harry McCarty Road in Statham, said he pulled onto May Street ahead of a tractor trailer. An Auburn man was charged with using profanity against a public official after a June 15 encounter with police. Police were called to a Carter Road home after a woman said Thomas Henry Mullinax Sr., 67, of 316 Carter Road, refused to leave her home when asked. The Town of Carl is awaiting distribution of 2011 SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds and hoping for a fair allotment. Counties’ housing unit growth among top in U.S.

The U.S. Census Bureau says Jackson and Barrow counties are some of the fastest growing in the nation for the number of housing units. Electronics firm may bring additional jobs

A company may not have officially announced it’s coming to Jackson County, but it’s already planning more jobs than initially estimated, according to one official.
