The unemployment rate for Jackson and surrounding counties crept back up a notch during June, following a statewide trend, the Georgia Department of Labor reported last week. A Commerce school employee is awaiting word on whether a fox that bit him at a Minish Drive location was rabid. According to the Commerce Police Department, Donald Nation, 52, said the fox, which he noticed was bleeding from the mouth, ran out from under a dumpster, bit him and ran back under the dumpster.
