Local voters prefer Nathan Deal over Karen Handel, according to a recent poll on BarrowJournal.com. A Winder man was arrested after a late night car accident on Hwy. 81 near Ft. Yargo. Police found Florencio Medina–Guillermo, 31, of 124 Second Street in Winder, sitting in the driver’s seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee which had come to rest approximately 40 yards off the roadway. Unemployment rate continues to climb

The unemployment rates in Barrow and Jackson counties aren’t getting any better. The rate climbed in both counties in June, setting the stage for what many believe could be a double-dip recession. Teen threatened by neighbor while retrieving basketball

A Winder man admitted threatening a teenager after the youth came onto his property to retrieve a basketball. The man said when he ordered the teen out of his yard, the teen “bowed up” to him.
