Carl residents to foot bill for garbage pickup

Carl residents will begin paying for their own garbage service beginning early in 2011. Phone scam victim threatened with death

A Winder woman who fell victim to a phone scam called police after being threatened by the perpetrator. The woman said a man identifying himself as James Taylor called to advise that she had won $250,000 and a brand new Mercedes. The Barrow County Board of Education set its millage rate at 18.5 mills Tuesday night, the same it’s been since 2006. Convenience store damaged by gun fire

An Auburn convenience store was riddled by gun fire on Sept. 14. Police were called to the Shell Food Mart on Atlanta Highway after the store owner arrived at work and discovered someone had fired several shots into the windows of the store.
