Jackson County freshman runner J.T. Wood ran a 20:27 in his first varsity race Saturday to help the Panthers finish 14th out of 26 varsity teams at the Northeast Georgia Championships. Jefferson sophomore Cara Smith led the Lady Dragons at state last year and has picked up right where she left off. The volley Panthers had trouble getting their serves over the net this past Thursday in a trip to Tallulah Falls and fell to 5-4 on the season. Jackson County lost in a rare best-of-five match to the host Indians 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19.
