A cancer patient featured in the Sept. 1 issue of The Braselton News died, Saturday, Sept. 18. Jennifer Wright Baird, 33, Braselton, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. More fires reported near construction site

A number of unauthorized burns in Braselton kept the West Jackson Fire Department busy on Friday evening, according to incident reports. For one of the calls, three small grass fires were found on Keys Lane near the construction site of the new Zion Church Road project. Two beer cans were found with the fires. Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris was recently marked for death by Muslim cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki for encouraging readers to draw pictures of the prophet Mohammed. Airport authority discusses leases

While the Barrow County Airport Authority is reportedly asking one airport tenant to pay $9,000 more per month to keep his lease, members of the authority agreed to grant another tenant a lease discount at the authority’s Sept. 21 meeting. A Winder woman is facing multiple charges after a domestic dispute. A deputy was called to a Bismarck Circle residence in response to a report of a verbal dispute.
