The Winder Police Department, the City of Winder and Ofc. Chris Stapleton have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed last week in Barrow County Superior Court. An 18-year-old Auburn man was arrested after punching his father in the face after a dispute over the use of foul language. Property tax collections throughout Jackson County are running about three percent behind schedule, adding to the financial pinch for school systems and local governments. Goats mysteriously killed, brains eaten

Two goats were reported dead last week from mysterious causes. A deputy was dispatched to a Carl Bethlehem Road address after a nine-year-old child arrived home from school and found two pet pygmy goats dead.
