A rowdy man known only as “Bubba” caused a disturbance at a Creekwood Court home on Sept. 19. Witnesses said “Bubba” picked a fight with the homeowner and struck him in the mouth. A Winder man avoided charges of crossing the jail guardline with drugs after admitting he had hidden marijuana in his underwear. Sheriff: Jail mail policy working well

On August 1, the Barrow County Detention Center implemented a new mail policy restricting incoming and outgoing general mail to postcards. School system reports stolen AC units

Two air conditioning units valued at $9,000 were reported stolen from Barrow County School property. The theft occurred at a Highland Drive building owned by the school system.
