A man was arrested while trying to shoplift several food items on Nov 12. Officers responded to a report of possible shoplifting at the N. Broad Street Ingles supermarket. Movie theatre in works for Barrow

Soon movie goers in Barrow County will not have to go elsewhere to check out the latest big screen features. Carmike Cinemas, Inc. announced Tuesday it will be working with Combs & Bartlett, LLC, based out of Winder, to build a 12-screen theatre with 2,328 seats. Poll shows support for Social Security bonus

Last week’s BarrowJournal.com poll asked participants if the government should issue a $250 bonus payment to Social Security recipients to compensate for the lack of a cost of living adjustment. The Barrow County Farm Bureau is offering two scholarships to area students. Recipients of the $1,200 scholarships will be eligible for additional scholarships from the Georgia Farm Bureau.
