Christmas celebration scheduled for downtown Auburn

The City of Auburn will hold a “Sounding off the Christmas Season” event on Saturday, Nov. 20 beginning at 5 p.m. The event will feature a parade, caroling and lighting of downtown Auburn. For more information, contact Charlotte Ewing 770-963-4002 ext. 223.

Barrow County Mobile Food Pantry to help those in need

The Barrow County Mobile Food Pantry, in partnership with The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, will be at Holly Hill Mall distributing food to those in need on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. until all food has been distributed. This community outreach is open to all residents of Barrow County.

Winder council issues funding for EDC

At a called meeting Oct. 27, the Winder City Council agreed in a 3-2 vote to provide $10,000 to the fundraising campaign of the Barrow Economic Development Council. A store manager ended up a victim of harassment after trying to resolve a shoplifting incident without police intervention. The manager said he witnessed two subjects with whom he was personally acquainted take items from the store. The Auburn-Carl Lions Club will host a turkey dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 5 – 7 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Burglar nabbed days after release from jail

An Auburn man was arrested for burglary just days after being released from jail on a drug charge. Stephen Christopher Brooks, 23, of 64 Main Street in Auburn, was charged with burglary after several stolen items were found in his possession.
