Historical Society 2011 calendars now on sale

The Barrow County Historical Society’s 2011 Commemorative Calendars — Preserving the Past for the Future — are now on sale. The Museum will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, so that residents who are unable to stop by during normal hours can tour the Museum and purchase calendars for keepsakes and gifts. Stolen vehicle leads to mailbox damage

Officers from the Winder Police Department were dispatched Dec. 5 to Capital Avenue in reference to someone running over a mailbox. Upon arrival officers immediately noticed a brick mailbox had been completely destroyed. There were pieces of headlights and a bumper lying on the ground next to the destroyed property. Braselton police prevented a would-be thief from stealing copper wire from a power substation, according to an incident report. Two officers were sent to a Jackson EMC power substation on Ga. Barrow County Sheriff’s Department officers arrived at a residence on Marcel Park, in response to a man threatening people with a garden hoe.
