A joint project between the county and the school system will bring a new recreation facility to West Jackson Middle School. The Jackson County School System’s long-time personnel director will resign in June, according to changes approved by the board of education on Monday. The House of Representatives voted Feb. 9 to approve an amended budget for the remainder of fiscal year 2011, which ends June 30. HB 77 adjusts the total budget for the current fiscal year to $18.1 billion. Spending by state agencies is reduced by an average of four percent, or about $303 million, in the supplemental budget. Eagle Grapplers Season Ends

The East Jackson Mat Eagles saw their season end at Sectionals over the weekend. Two East Jackson grapplers, Drew Hunter (189 lb.) and Jesse Moore (215 lb.), qualified for the Sectionals tournament.
