Jackson County will attempt to collect nearly $96,000 in back taxes with property sales in April. The property is multiple lots in Clara’s Garden Subdivision under the names of Chastain Builders, J&S Chastain Development, LLC and Jerry Chastain; and in Briar Rose Subdivision under the name of Billy Norris. Jackson unemployment climbs in January to 10.8%

Jackson County unemployment rate climbed in January to 10.8 percent, up from 10.3 percent in December. But the rate was below the January 2010 rate of 11.6 percent. According to state data, 2,933 people were unemployed in Jackson County in January.

Pot pancakes gets JMS student ousted

A Jefferson Middle School student apparently brought some unusual food to share with her friends earlier this week.
