Census: Barrow grows 50%

The population of Barrow County grew by 50 percent in the last decade, according to Census numbers released Thursday. Barrow’s 2010 population was 69,367, a climb of 23,223 more people than in 2000. Rob Woodall, whose 7th Congressional District covers Barrow County, was one of only seven Republicans in the House to vote against a move to de-fund National Public Radio in a controversial vote Thursday. Local students still struggle with new high school math

Like many of their peers across the state, students in Barrow County have been struggling with Georgia’s new math curriculum. Both Apalachee High School and Winder Barrow High School had high failure rates on the End of Course Tests in math for last fall and last spring.
