Home severely damaged by Sun. fire

A doublewide home on Cooks Road was severely damaged by fire early Sunday morning and the family inside just escaped injury. The family had to escape out a bedroom window. No smoke detector was in the home, officials said. Investigation of the fire is ongoing, said fire officials. The family was helped by the Red Cross.

Teen charged in mom's murder in Braselton

The Braselton Police Department has arrested a 15-year-old girl in the murder of her mother, who was an Army recruiter. First Sgt. A woman died under suspicious circumstances in an incident that has left two people being questioned, according to Braselton police.
