BOWERSVILLE – Mae Bell Leachman Wilkes, 79, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Born in Commerce, she was the daughter of the late George and Ella Kelley Leachman. The Commerce track and field teams had a rough last week, as both the boys’ and girls’ squads placed third in a three-team meet at Habersham Central High School. CERT taking applications for new classes to start April 21

The Jackson County Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) will start another nine-week training program on Thursday, April 21, at the Jackson County Fire Training Center, Jefferson. It was in the spring of 1998 when I attended my first Rotary Relays at Winder-Barrow High School. At the time, it was one of the top events of the track season for this area.
