LAVONIA – Charlie Compton West, 87, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at his residence. Born on July 24, 1923, in Madison County, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Pearl (Looney) West. County population up 9%

Madison County grew by nine percent between 2000 and 2010. The federal government released Georgia’s Census numbers recently. Madison County’s population increased by 2,390 from 25,730 to 28,120.
