The Commerce Planning Commission gave its blessing Monday night for a company that plans to put a scrap metal recycling plant on Old Maysville Road. Between weather and injuries, the East Jackson soccer teams had a crazy last week, as the both the boys and the girls won over Jackson County but lost to Jefferson. Last week had it’s ups and downs for the Commerce golf teams, as the boys beat Riverside, Prince Avenue and East Jackson while falling to Jefferson and Hebron, and the girls beat East Jackson while falling to Hebron and Jefferson. The East Jackson netters wrapped up their regular season last week, including a home stand against in-county rival Jackson County. Legal battle stalls town’s reuse water plans

A legal dispute with Gwinnett County and its cities is stifling the expansion of Braselton’s reuse water effort. Truck driver hits barrier at Hoschton gas station

A suspect who damaged a barrier at gas station left the scene without telling anyone, according to an incident report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. An employee at a BP gas station on Ga. Marijuana plant found in Statham raid, 5 arrests made

Five drug-related arrests were made early this morning when approximately 40 police officers and Sheriff’s deputies raided three Statham homes, according to a Barrow County Sheriff’s Office release.
