Barrow grad test results weak

Barrow County 11th Graders ranked 93rd out of 187 school systems in Georgia on the state graduation tests this year. Only 71.1 percent of Barrow students passed all four sections of the test on the first try. That was below the overall state average of 74 percent. The Barrow County Board of Education is slated to give tentative approval next week to a proposed $132.5 million FY2012 budget. The proposed budget does not call for a tax hike with the millage rate staying at the current 18.5 mills. Auburn DDA receives FY2011-12 approved budget

The City of Auburn's Downtown Development Authority (DDA) received its fiscal year 2011-12 approved operating budget at a business meeting May 25 at city hall. Statham man arrested for raping child

A Statham man was charged last week for allegedly raping a 13-year-old special needs girl after plying her with beer and drugs.
