New Hoschton committee to look at city's zoning code

The Hoschton Zoning Code Update Advisory Committee will meet on Monday, June 6, at 6 p.m., at city hall. The group has been established by the city to update Hoschton’s code of zoning ordinance. Violations continue to plague reservoir

Violations around the Bear Creek Reservoir continue to be a concern of the Upper Oconee Basin Authority. Barrow grad test results weak

Barrow County 11th Graders ranked 93rd out of 187 school systems in Georgia on the state graduation tests this year. Only 71.1 percent of Barrow students passed all four sections of the test on the first try. That was below the overall state average of 74 percent. No tax hike in BOE budget; but system plans to spend nearly half of its reserves to fund expenses

The Barrow County Board of Education is slated to give tentative approval next week to a proposed $132.5 million FY2012 budget. The proposed budget does not call for a tax hike with the millage rate staying at the current 18.5 mills.
