Winder firefighters battle two accidental Wednesday blazes

The City of Winder Fire Department battled two house fires on Wednesday, July 20, both of which were ruled accidental. No one was injured. Jackson County’s four district board of commissioners seats need to be redrawn to meet federal voting guidelines. Barrow County elections supervisor resigns

For the second time in less than two years, Barrow County is losing its elections supervisor. A Braselton officer drew his weapon on a man — who led police on a long drive after an officer tried to stop his vehicle for failing to maintain its lane, according to an incident report. County debt among highest in state

The Jackson County government is in the top 10 percent in the state in its per capita debt burden and county officials say the that paying that debt back will be a financial struggle through the year 2024.
