The City of Nicholson will celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks show again this year. The event is set to begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, in the park behind Nicholson City Hall. Thieves steal items from vehicles

At least five residents of a Commerce area subdivision reported their vehicles vandalized Thursday night, according to incident reports filed with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The Madison County Senior League girls all star softball team captured the District 7 title Friday night with a 13-9 win over Hart County. Madison County will now advance to the state tournament, which begins July 16 in Bogart. An opening opponent has yet to be determined. County ends 2010 in the black

The Jackson County government finished FY2010 $117,200 in the black in its General Fund, pushing the county’s general reserves up to nearly $10 million. Of that, $5.3 million is unassigned.
