Colbert woman killed Tues. in Athens accident

A Madison County woman was killed in a car wreck in Clarke County early Tuesday morning. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Athens-Clarke County police are on the look out for a black male and female who allegedly shoplifted groceries and then stole an elderly Athens man’s vehicle from the Ingles parking lot in Hull Monday night. The Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to investigate a house fire that occurred around 7:55 p.m. on Monday in Banks County. Ila council approves tax rate, budget

The Ila City Council approved its 2011 millage rate and 2012 budget at the September meeting. The budget includes a $2 increase in water rate fees, with a base rate of $20, and an increase in garbage collection to $14.50 (citizens currently pay $13.65). The Braselton Planning and Development Department approved five residential building permits in August, according to a monthly administrative report.
