Mayfield Dairy tours set to end next Friday, Oct. 14

The Mayfield Dairy Visitors Center in Braselton — one of the largest tourism spots in the region — will close at the end of October, according to officials. The Jackson County Board of Education will keep its millage rates the same, despite a lower tax digest that is reducing property tax revenue. The board opted on Thursday to stick with its maintenance and operation (M&O) millage rate at 18.9 mills and its bond retirement millage rate at 3.1 mills.
