A Colbert man was arrested recently after he allegedly tried to choke his girlfriend. Jerry Lean Thomas, 44, 5657 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 8, was charged with simple battery FVA and disorderly conduct. Auditors say county in ‘good shape’

Madison County government’s annual audits have improved considerably over the last few years, according to the county’s auditing firm. The county’s finance committee met recently to hear about the 2010 audit from Matt Miller of Treadwell, Tamplin and Company. Firefighters extinguish two fires at Winder residence

Firefighters put out two fires determined to be caused by an electrical malfunction in a Mulberry Trail, Winder, home on Monday early afternoon. Two adults and four children were displaced as a result of the damage, but all were OK. The Georgia Supreme Court this week upheld the 2006 murder conviction of a Winder man who fatally shot another man at a Winder Mexican restaurant, despite his claims it was self defense.
