The state Department of Education released a second round of 2011 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) results on Wednesday indicating two Barrow County schools that had previously not made AYP are now meeting the state-wide standards. Jefferson woman shoots dog that threatens pet rabbit and chickens

A CARRUTH Road, Jefferson, woman said a small brown and white dog came into her yard and tried to kill her pet rabbit and chickens. The woman told a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that she had to shoot the dog to stop it from killing her animals. She said she doesn’t know who the dog belongs to.
