Three businesses in Braselton that didn’t pay their occupational taxes by a deadline will also have to pay a $500 late fine, the town council decided on Monday. Man’s body found in Winder pond

No foul play was involved in the death of a man whose body was found in a private pond off Holsenbeck School Road in Winder last week. Authorities said the case is still under investigation. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office dive team assisted Winder Police in locating the body Jan. 12.

Sometimes, government policies are just plain dumb. That’s evident today in a plan by the state to charge a fee to those who mountain bike at Ft. Yargo State Park in Winder.
