Jefferson school spending among the state's lowest

The Jefferson City School System is the second thriftiest school district in the state, according to recently released data from FY2011. Last year, Jefferson spent just $6,651 per student ranking it just behind the Chickamauga City School System, which spent $6,450 per student. There has recently been a confirmed case of rabies in a cow in Jackson County. A cow tested positive for rabies after coming into contact with the owner. MAYSVILLE - Esther "Doll" Whitlock, 94, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Banks County, the daughter of the late Lon and Emma Westbrooks Gowder.
