Braselton council approves plans for apartments

Despite opposition from area residents, the Braselton Town Council approved a rezoning request on Monday that will include almost 300 apartments in a mixed-use project. A deputy responding to a wanted person located call in a Winder subdivision pulled a MacGyver on a suspect who locked himself in a bedroom — he used tweezers to unlock the door. Emergency chief to ask BOC to match grant funds

Barrow County's emergency services chief will ask the board of commissioners Tuesday night to provide 20 percent in matching funds so that the department can buy six new cardiac monitors and defibrillators. A Barrow County Magistrate Judge denied bond for a Winder man who faces charges he allegedly beat his pregnant wife with an oxygen tank causing her to break several bones and require a dozen stiches in the back of her head earlier this week.
