Winder approves new building, WPD dispatch change

The Winder City Council took care of some major items at its regular monthly meetings Monday and Tuesday. The council unanimously ratified the mayor’s March 3 bid to purchase at auction the Midland Avenue operations center of the former Peoples Bank. Braselton police seized a large amount of cash during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 in which two people were arrested on drug charges, according to an incident report. Year's 6th case of rabies confirmed

Public health officials confirmed Jackson County’s sixth case of rabies last week. A raccoon killed on Lords Mill Road near Commerce tested positive for the disease. The Winder-Barrow High School track teams both earned top six finishes at the Dacula Invitational Friday.
