An off-duty Braselton officer helped a woman who was screaming and running away from her husband during a dispute, according to an incident report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Madison County man killed by alleged drunk driver in Franklin County

A Madison County man was one of two fatalities in a Franklin County wreck last week caused by an alleged drunk driver. Billy “Joey” Hart, 41, Hull, died in a three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 17 in Canon April 16. The man who allegedly robbed the First Citizens Bank inside of Ingles Wednesday morning was arrested Friday. Madison County Sheriff Kip Thomas said James Edward Lawson, 46, Athens, has been charged with armed robbery.
