The Winder City Council on May 24 approved a legal settlement that on Aug. 1 will end H.S. Feldman Inc.’s services to the city. At a Tuesday hearing held to determine whether accused killer James Morris “Jim” Lynn confessed to police two days after Tonya Faye Lynn was reported missing in late July of 2011, a Barrow County judge decided to allow the recorded confession to be admitted. Statham crossing to be closed until 1 p.m.

The SR 211 Railroad Crossing in downtown Statham will be closed today for roadwork until approximately 1 p.m., according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. Memorial Day fire at Harrison Poultry Inc. in Bethlehem

Fire broke out on Memorial Day in a building owned by one of Barrow County's largest employers. Lt. Scott Dakin of Barrow County Emergency Services said the fire at Harrison Poultry Inc. in Bethlehem spread up a wall and out the roof, but firefighters quickly brought it under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.

Driver killed in early morning wreck on Memorial Day

A man driving a truck with Barrow County plates was killed in a wreck on Memorial Day when the truck left Atlanta Highway and slammed into a tree just over the county line near Pete Dickens Road in Bogart.
