The Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team finally met its match in Class A this spring. The Wildcats faced defending state champion Crisp Academy Friday in the GISA Class A semifinals and were swept 6-1 and 9-7. Dr. Edmund Clyde Martin, Sr., 89, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was born March 8, 1923, the son of the late Webb and Winnie Wood Martin at his home on Tanner's Mill Road in Chestnut Mountain, Ga. LULA - Louise Ruby Marlow Westmoreland, 76, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at The Oaks at Scenic View. She was born in Banks County, the daughter of the late Dave and Zadie Shubert Marlow. Fire destroys vacant mobile home

An early morning fire on Wednesday destroyed a vacant mobile home on Hwy. 334 near Nicholson. Units from Commerce, Nicholson and the Jackson County CI fire departments responded to the blaze and found a double-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames. The fire was reported by a passerby.
