Winder soldier seriously injured in Afghanistan

A 2010 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School was seriously injured last week in Afghanistan. Just two days after celebrating his 20th birthday, U.S. Army Private First Class Samuel Walley on June 6 stepped on an improvised explosive device while in pursuit of a member of the Taliban. An automatic license plate reader on a Braselton police vehicle helped an officer find a missing man, according to an incident report.
